Yes - another camera bag thread. We don't get quite the choice where I live that some of you enjoy, and while you can buy anything over the net, there's always postage, and I'd like to give at least some support to local traders. And it's nice to be able to handle the product before you put your money down.

That's especially true for a camera bag for a rangefinder kit, where "just the right size" seems hard to find. I'd love a M-Classic or Billingham, but they are way expensive for me. Today I found what might be the right bag, at a good price (post-Christmas sales - yes!!). It's a Lowepro TX 400. Not too deep from front to back, just big enough for a body with a 35, and enough room left for a 90 and a 50 in their own compartments. There's enough room in the two end pockets for a meter and several rolls of film, and the front pocket has room for a notebook and pen and more film. The top flap is zippered, and flips out away from your body when open. The shape of the bag is such that when the flap is folded open, it stays open, out of the way. OK - it does look like a camera bag, which is a minus, but that isn't too much of an issue for me as I'm usually not trying to disguise the fact I'm taking photos. You can see I've already removed the Lowepro badge from the front flap.

The price was a pretty reasonable AUD$36 (about US$26). Another one to consider! 🙂

Lowepro has 1001 models to choose from. Let me see..., I own 5. 😉

I got this one on eBay brand new for £4.99. It's a little high for my Voigtlander R3A but some boxes of film in the bottom makes it just right.

The width and the depth are just right for an RF camera and normal lens. It's got tons of pockets for glasses, phone and stuff.

Why dont you just make your own bag? I made my own vest and it turned out pretty nice but it is to hot most of the time where I live. I like it when I motercycle though because its easier to get the cameras in and out for quick shots. Any one of you should be able to get your hands on some of the finest canvas available and Tandy leather has all kinds of stuff like kangaroo leather and goat hide. You could design it all up yourself and then have it sewn profesionaly or you could just hand stitch it for that funky mountain man possibles bag look.
