Any 35/2 biogon bokeh samples???

Any ZI fans have some wide open samples to post from the 35/2 biogon or 28mm lens, heck I'd settle for seeing some 50/2 samples, post some if you got 'em.

These were all f4 or less on the 35/2.. I don't remember exactly what aperture. These were all done before I knew what I was doing with manual as well as developing (i.e. a couple are just a tad out of focus, but you'll see when focus is on, the lens is very sharp). Only the last one is cropped.

that second shot is priceless, love it, a great example of what this lens can do. See you are taking the photos I wish I saw more of with these new lenses since they have me very interested in them

thanks, these are exactly what I was looking for. The lens shows good isolation, wide open, between the subject and out of focus areas (3D effect). It looks very similar to the famed 4th version 35'cron, hows the build feel?

Judging from other people have said about it, I hear its a good build on all the lenses. Hm.....get the 35 cron asph or the 35 biogon and the 50 planar.....bah 🙄

Avotius, lighting has a lot to do with that 3D look you see in the second shot. You'll notice the effect is not present in the other ones.. also, the other ones aren't as sharp as the second one. By the way, all shots except the last two had slight curves adjustments.

Todd: the only M glass I have is this 35ZM, and build quality is good. Has a touch of heft to it, the aperture ring just glides with confident halts on each 1/3 stop, and focus is smooth. I don't use the nubby on the focus ring, though, and I think with excessive and abussive use, that aperture ring may wear. Lens cap design doesn't work well with the hood, my fingers are too thick to pinch it out and I can easily see myself scratching the lens trying to put the cap back on. Therefore, I've made it practice to remove the hood before putting the cap back on.

When I actually make some income this year, I may purchase a 4th gen 35 because I read it's actually a fairly compact lens. The biogon is somewhat longer than my g's 35 and 45 planars.

I'll try to take some better photos for you through this week, and do them on my ZI (the above were all done on the M2).

Whoops.. couple more things..

I've attached a shot I just found.. I sometimes experiment and like to throw the lens OOF wide open for an "impressionistic" feel -- especially when I see contrasts, and little peaks of lights for the bubbles. I like bubbles 🙂 Hopefully this can give you an indication of good/bad bokeh. This was an unkempt pepper tree back up in the hills.

And Avotius, there's actually a funny story with the second shot there. I was with my photo club in Riverside when he approached our group and tried to talk us into voting for some guy for mayor. I didn't hear the name, but decided to joke around and claimed he was one of my uncles. He looked at me funny, I told him to hold that while I took the picture, then he gave me the prospective mayor's card: turns out he was a black muslim (I'm a white guy of eastern euro descent). We all got a good laugh out of it 🙂

Build quality is great. All the lenses I have handled feel solid. I think one of the Summicron's biggest advantages is its size. The Biogon feels a bit bulky.

I really like the handrail shot! One really gets the feeling of distance in the background, and it serves beautifully to isolate and draw focus to the handrail.
