Does anyone have or know of a picture of the screws relating to realignment of the rangefinder? Yashica guy has a picture of the area, but has no details. I opened the hotshoe of my himatic, but I see not 3, but about 8 screws, and I have no idea which ones are it. I see a black vertical object that runs diagonal in the hole like this /, and on the left upper side there are four small screws and one big one. On the right lower side are one big and one small screw, another farther underneath the wires, plus one which I'm not sure is really a screw.

Kat,
What is the specific model that you are working on? The adjustment screws are in lots of different places on different cameras. Even different on "the same camera" during the couarse of their run.

Brian, it's a Minolta HiMatic 9. I just finished cleaning up the stuck shutter blades yesterday, and realized that the RF focus was off. The image on the RF won't align at greater distances and infinity.

I'm wondering if I'm doing this right...I loosened the screw, but I don't see any difference in the rangefinder when I look through the viewfinder.

You're right, It's blocked by the black "wall" on the left side of the hotshoe hole. I would have to think long and hard about opening up the top. Thanks a bunch, Dave.🙂

Dave, I hope you have patience for stupid questions...I've been giving that top some thought and reading up yashica guy's site, but I can't seem to understand how to open/remove the rewind knob. Can you please help?

Ah! I was going through old posts and wondering what the "fork" was, hehe. Thanks, I figure if I can do the rewind knob and the advance without too much, I'll take the plunge!🙂 Worse case, I can always take it to the local repairman in pieces, LOL!

Dave, thank you so much for all the help, I saved all your photos for future reference. I shamefully admit after scratching the top of the advance lever on my futile attempts to open it with makeshift tools and realizing that I have no way of being able to solder back the hotshoe wires, I finally gave up and went to a pro who fixed it within minutes.

I did ask him not to tighten everything too much to make it easier to open up should another problem crop up later on, but the service has a warranty, he also cleaned the VF, etc and will change the seals if I bring it back when his foam arrives, all for $10.😀 Course, for an unemployed bum lke me on this holiday season, that still caused a little wince, but for the first time I actually met someone here who appreciated rangefinders, he went so far as to say the lens could probably beat many digitals, and he kept commenting how nice and clean the cosmetic condition was (despite the newly acquired scratches).

The only other adjustment is this screw. I don't think you can reach it with the top on. Large arrow on left.

thank you for the pictures greyhoundman, very clear, very helpful!

i have the same camera, Hi-Matic 9, and have the same problem.

after taking the lens board off to fix the wobbly lens and putting it back on, the rangefinder is off, horizontally. vertically it seems to be ok.

there should be no question on the lens infinity setting, and the only thing i need to do is to adjust the rangefinder to match the lens, is that correct?

you pointed out 2 scews for horizontal adjustment. could i ask what is the difference between these 2? how are they related to the horizontal adjustment? how do i decide which one to adjust?

tks a lot for helping!
