While I was browsing an antique store the owner noticed I was carrying and using an old camera and asked me if I knew what an item she had was. I saw the leather case and knew it was a light meter, and told her so. She said she didn't know if it worked, but I could have it for free and see if I could get it to work.
It turned out to be an Argus L3 with the leather case and chain, and it doesn't appear to work. I've been searching for any online resources on repairing it before I give up on it and make it a mantle decoration. I can't find anything other than a user manual.
Does anyone know of a site that might help or have some information that would point me in the right direction to see if it's salvageable?

I checked continuity where I could and finally figured out that the cell is dead in the meter. It's too bad; it looks nice. I'll have to find myself another one, but I bet it won't be free!

There is a company called Quality Light Metric that rebuilds meters but I suspect it would be cheaper to just shop for another one. Good Luck. Joe
