With all of the new Fuji products being announced, I have yet to see anything solid on the X Pro-2. I know this has been discussed before, but with Photokina coming very soon, I wonder if anyone heard anything new. This is the Fuji I am waiting for.

Not sure it's coming this year - my x-pro1 is still working perfectly though, and is still the best camera in the lineup, not to mention it displaced my 5d mkIII ;)

I assume that there is nothing going to be announced. Being its this close to Photokina we would of seen something by now IMO or heard of some strong rumors. Like you, its the only camera I am interested in hearing about…..

I am hoping the new sensor will rival Sonys full frame offerings with the A7 series in terms of resolution and image quality. The Fuji lenses are capable of it. My second hope is for them to keep the form factor the same. My third hope is a vastly better hybrid viewfinder. My final hope is much better and accurate auto focus.

Agreed on all fronts. I don't use my X-Pro1 as much after being spoiled by the A7r. The AF is the killer for me on the X-Pro1 with the lenses I prefer (early x lenses). It's just too slow.

I'll live with your version of the XPII! I've been living with the x100 as my only digital BUT would like to add a XPII to the mix, until then I am very content with my M6/M5- 35 + 50 cron's….

Lately when I am using a Fuji it is the xe1 w/ the 27 pancake because of the compact size..but like u I have been using other cameras more these days. I am ok w/ the af speed...but then again our subject matter is probably way different.

To the op..

Given nothing happened this year despite the rumors of a possible xp1 update w/ the Sony 24mp sensor.....

It looks like the original rumor of the xp2 w/ an organic sensor maybe what is going to happen. The original rumor put the organic sensor sometime in 2015.

The new ovf design shows they are still investing in the ovf, I would hope the xp2 is still on the map since it is the flagship for that design. But I do think w/ the xt1, that we are going to c 2 flagship families given how popular the xt1 has become. Just MHO.

The early lenses need hardware updates.
I bought my first zooms (18-55 and 55-200).
They are both much faster on the Xpro-1.
Do those earlier primes really AF much faster on the XT1 and XE2?
I never tried one. Surely the Xpro1 could be improved but it sure seems like the older lenses are part of the problem in regards to speed.
Interested feedback from folks who have used both Xtrans1 body w/Early primes vs. Xtrans2/Early Primes.
Cheers!

Was the X-Pro1 considered a success by Fuji? Or was it a rather niche product that spearheaded X-Trans?

Both the x100 and the xp1 spearheaded the Fuji cameras into the forefront. I personally would not consider it a niche product...but I kind c where others might.

All of the newer lenses are faster on the X-Pro1. The 27mm is the fastest i have, but the 35mm is my favorite. It's slow.

Not in my use... incremental differences.

Thanks John. You confirmed my suspicion. I'll stay with Xtrans 1 sensor cameras and the xpro1 in particular.
The new EVF's are nice but not worth the extra dough and loss of the OVF which I really like a lot.

Hopefully the older primes will get hardware updates soon. The 35mm is my favorite too. It is slow but I use it slow so that's ok.

Cheers!

I hope there is not a 24 X 36 mm sensor. I have no confidence the current line of APS-C lenses would perform well at the larger frame's edges.

I find if the lens' maximum aperture is wide enough, the increase in sensor area is not important to me. However extremely shallow DOFs are not required for my projects. So APS-C/XF lenses are fine for me.

If the sensor area does increase, I hope Fujifilm goes to a pseudo-medium format sensor area similar to the that in the new Pentax 645Z.

I think Fuji still views the X-Pro1 as its flagship product. Even with the announcement of subsequent products implementing more advanced features, the X-Pro1 is the top of the heap and I believe they are trying to maintain that sense by delaying the release of the X-Pro2. Fuji doesn't want you to hold off on buying one, they're giving the users a sense that if you buy an X-Pro it will last you, there won't be a new model next year. It's not the camera you buy just to replace, it's the camera you use to take pictures.

It's good marketing. The X-Pro line is a professional camera. Buy an X-Pro2 and you'll know you'll have it for 3+ years.

If they ever do the 35f1.4 version 2 and it is bigger than the original.. Then u can up the suspicion level for full frame.

Someone let out (Fuji type guy) that some of the lenses have an image circle that could accommodate ff.. I doubt that the original 3 have good enough image circles..but who knows about the later prime lenses.

Gary

fujirumors says it'll be shown in prototype at photokina and ship next year around september. the time will pass quicker than you think! ;)

a refreshed 35/1.4 with faster af HAS to be in the works. it's too important to be slow.

Funny, I rented the Zeiss 35mm f2.8 E mount for my A7r and it is smaller than my Fuji 35mm f1.4, yet full frame. Ill bet any 35mm full frame lens will be the same size as the old one.

There's no way to compare lenses this way without knowing something about the optical designs.
