Two months ago, I ordered three Russian lenses from these guys, http://www.arsenal-photo.com/, and have yet to recieve them. Their response over and over again is they are checking w/ the postal agency. When you pay premium dollar, I think you should expect better service. 'Not your fabled Teutonic efficiency. Obviously, I'm not happy and won't buy from them again.

Their prices are always way too inflated and as such, I never dealt with them. I've only heard bad things about them. Good luck with your purchases though.

NOW you tell me. Actually, I should have asked before I bought, but am used to great customer service from online US dealers. Does anybody have an email address for a government consumer complaint agency in Germany? These guys are in Nuremberg.

p.s. Are they the same company as our RFF sponsor (http://www.shphoto.de/)?

sorry to hear about ur probs, bill!

Arsenal and SH-Photo are the same guys. There are good and bad experiences. Mine were extremely bad and I will never ever do business again with them or companies related to them. Good luck with your deal and forget about a customer complaint agency. It is more efficient to hire a lawyer (if you want to...).

Me hire a German lawyer from Korea to pursue a $300 purchase? Not very practical or effective. Most gov't consumer complaint/ protection agencies are effective--it's the hassle factor that businesses anywhere don't wanna deal with. For example, about 2 years ago I wrote to such an agency in India (of all places) about some crooks or slackards who didn't want to send me some small camera parts I'd paid for.........and guess what? The gov't agency there acted very promptly/ efficiently and the parts came soon therafter. Simply amazing.

My guess is that your package was lost in the mail somewhere. My further conjecture is that Aresenal may be waiting for the postal service to make good on an insurance claim before they refund your money so as to be sure they are secured from a loss if possible. Claims on valuable international packages can take months to "process" (investigate).

I've looked at their stuff and all I can say is that I'm impressed. I don't think their prices are inflated (the market determines that), just too expensive for most of us here including myself.

I have shopped twice from them, both times expensive items, no probs. They are not cheats if that is what you are afraid. If your package is lost it may take time to process the claim.

Their prices (eps. under the Arsenal banner) are high, but there is the occasional bargain if you look hard enough. (I have spotted one on a camera I was looking for a long time, as we speak).

I hope your issue will have a quick and easy resolution.

David:

I hope you're right, but terse replies from them and negative comments here give me a serious case of the "nervous willies."

If indeed missing in the mail, it is probably postal employee theft here--it's happened before to me. Lots of "sticky fingers."
