Someone from leica should buy a bunch of apple products and use them continuously for a couple of years. As they break, bring them in for warranty service: see how long it takes.
Apple are great with warranty service, very quick and hassle free in my experience. But the flipside of that is that they are sometimes happy to sell things with known design flaws - scroll ball on the mighty mouse? - and just pick up the issue in aftersales.

As opposed to digital cameras that require an additional filter for use? Of course, I don't disagree with the above statement.

The only online community that Leica seems to pay attention to is the German LUF. As has been noted previously here, a small number of executives are members, they apparently occasionally read the forums and very occasionally act on something that's particularly egregious. But they are very slow, even then...Posting about their poor customer service is not likely to change this.

Unfortunately, the rangefinder's vertical alignment is off, so the camera is going back to Leica again.
