Anybody shoot color film and convert to B/W?

I have an opportunity to pickup a large (at least for me) quantity of Kodak color Ultramax 400 ISO film. But I am mainly a b/w guy when shooting film. What can I expect in terms of results?

Akiva, these two are UMax 400 converted to B&W. Shot them with a F100 and 400mm f5.6 lens.

I do exactly that, although I will end that habit some time soon by shooting and developing real BW.

Sorry to break in here, but I have a related question. I have a roll of exposed Agfacolor 200 sitting around the house. It is my brother-in-law's and was exposed only God knows when--many years ago. I would like to develop it with b&w chemicals. There's no risk obviously; it's just for fun. I have D-76 and Rodinal. Is it possible and what times would I follow?

Hmm, I did that once when I accidentally developed an 8x10 Ektachrome transparency in HC-110 by accident. I just used the recommended developing time for Tri-X on that occasion and things turned out fine.

As to converting colour to b&w: I do that when my expired colour film gives me bizarre colours on developing. 🙂
