A derivative of vitamin c is one key component in Kodak's XTOL developer. It was formulated to help those with allergies to some of the other developing chemicals.
I had never heard of a seawater fixer. If that's the case, perhaps some kosher salt, or a big box of sea salt in water would work. but how long?

Yes. Definitely an experiment worth trying.

You can also make a developer akin to Rodinal out of Tylenol (which even sounds like the name of a developer).
Fixing in seawater took hours and hours.

Deeply disappointed 🙄 I was expecting at the very least some salacious titbit of gossip :angel: but instead I find a worthy oddity of an article on alternative methods of development 😱
Never mind after the initial disappointment it was thought provoking and interesting and worth the read after all 🙂
I would suggest wearing an apron, rubber gloves and possibly goggles if you plan to brew your own chemistry, but then that might be the subject of more salacious gossip if you get caught in that getup :bang:
