Anyone planning to buy the Fujifilm 16-50mm zoom?

Initially, I thought the Fujifilm X-M1 was lame. However, the more I looked at it, and thought about how I used the Fujis, the more I figured it could work for me (and would make some shots easier). I figure it'll be a good waist level camera with the 27mm. Being able to actually frame well when you are holding it above your head or below your knees added something to what I already use.

The X-M1 is $699 and $799 with the zoom. I generally hate zooms, so I thought I'd ignore the zoom. However, then I thought it would be nice to have a $100 24mm 3.5 equivalent lens for the X-Pro1. AND it's isn't that big at that focal length... so I went for it. I probably won't even zoom. I'll use it like a 16mm prime.

I decided to get the Brown model with silver zoom (which means I have to wait a month or so). Shallow, I know, but I wanted it to look different than my other Fujis (X100s and X-Pro1).

Has anyone else thought about getting this zoom?

if i could buy one for 100 bucks i'd give it a try...but i don't want the new camera body.
the x-e1 and 27 has spoiled me for small size and usability.
having a 24 would be nice...

I thought about it. Right now I am waiting on the 55-200. I really would like a long zoom.

For $100 ? Definitely worth a buy. If it doesn't work out sell it and get hit for what? $50 ?

That brown covering is very good looking, but my heart is set on an XE-1 later this year. Can't live without the viewfinder.

Dave, I believe I can sell the lens for more than $100 if I don't like it too (since amazon sells it for $399 alone).

I already have the X-Pro1 and X100s for when I need a VF. I agree, if I was only going to buy one, I'd have to have the VF too.

I always thought the xm1 w/ 27 was the perfect kit, if u wanted small.. W/ the flip screen.. Never thought about just using the zoom at 16 before.. But that is a very good idea.

Ok, I've decided against this after playing with the camera. I just don;t think it'll be worth the $800.

I just thought it felt more like fuji's P&S cameras than a X camera. It's more XF1 / X10 in feel than an APS-C X camera. I guess that's the point. However, for me, it just didn't have the same elegance as the X100s or X-Pro1. That said, there was nothing wrong with the camera and I'm sure it'll perform great. It just wasn't for me. As a P&S, I'll stick with the Ricoh GR and for Fuji, I'll stick with the X100s and X-Pro1.
