A while ago i got a mockva 5. I really like it, except that the viewfinder is just about the most squinty thing i've ever seen.

I've been thinking i'd try and find a cheap 40mm viewfinder for a 35mm camera and just stick it on there with tape or something.

Anyone ever do that? How'd it work out for you?
Any reccomendations on a cheap finder? Any better suggestions to keep it on there than gaff tape?

Thanks.

I've tried attaching two viewfinders (both for 50mm lenses on 35mm, roughly the same as a 105mm on 6x9) to my Moskva 5 with gaffer tape, but the tape didn't hold either firmly enough. Perhaps some kind of metal clip arrangement that I haven't thought out yet would work. It's too bad the Moskva 5 didn't stick to the finders on the previous models (parallax in only one direction and not so squinty) or put an accessory shoe right above the lens!

It seems like the coupled rangefinder is the main advantage of the Moskva 5 over similar cameras. Would it make more sense to sell it and pick up another instead if you are going to use an accessory finder anyway?

Thanks for the info summar. I don't understand the lack of a cold shoe either! It's a little tempting to take the viewfinder entirely out and put a shoe over there.

Brian - sorry if i was confusing in my earlier post. The Moskva 5 has separate viewfinder and rangefinders. I've cleaned up and adjusted the rangefinder, it's great. The viewfinder is the thing that's terrible.

I guess i'll have to keep an eye out for a super cheap 50mm viewfinder and just experiment. Too bad that it looks like most of the finders on auction are going for $50 - that's what i paid for the camera!
