Anyone use R3A with 35mm and 90/2 lens?

1) With the 35mm lens, do you use the 40mm frame-lines, the whole viewfinder, or an auxilliary finder?

2) With the 90/2, specifically the Leica pre-ASPH lens, how badly does it obstruct the 90mm frame-lines?

This is a common question here, it seems. It also seems that everyone has a different answer. Mine was to use the 40mm framelines so that you would never "miss" anything in the edges, but others had different opinions. That being the case, the proper answer should be "whatever works best for you" 🙂

You gonna shoot that wide open on a bessa? 😛

I can't get my hands on an R3A before I buy it online, hence the question. :bang:

The camera can probably deal with the 90/2 wide open at a reasonable distance. The lens needs an effective baselength of 40.5mm according to Erwin Puts, and the R3A has 37mm which is a little more than 90% of that. At 2 metres and f/2 the DOF is 6 cm, not that bad actually.

I'm more concerned with finder obstruction because of the 90's physical size.

I've shot a 35 on my R3A using the whole finder. It seemed to work OK, but I'd rather have a camera with 35mm framelines and some space around them.

I haven't tried a fast 90 on it, though.
