Gimp 2.8 now has single window mode. Why spend hundreds on image editing software when you can do the same for free..
GIMP = usability hell. You see that this application is designed by programmers.
Who do you think designs software??
Gimp is as easy to use as any other image editing software..

i use GIMP because i can't afford PS like Raid's students... can anyone point me to image editing tutorial for GIMP user online? i understand GIMP cover a lot of the same things of PS, but the interface/ defaults/ settings are quite different

After upgrading to 2.8 I used it about a week, noted menus right in the window weren't such a bad thing (like on early Macs?) and when some non-native plugins didn't work well in 2.8 I reverted to 2.6....will wait until 2.8 and surroundings get polished. btw i'm not only one who noted multi-window UI isn't that bad, at the end 🙂

Not trying to get too off topic, but, actually, in many large software design projects, there will be a designer or team of designers that draw up the UI. Generally, they specialize in Human-Computer interfaces and probably know how to write code, but still, their main purpose is designing the UI for others to program. ...
