Anyone using or used a Mir 37mm lens.

Not strictly an FSU rangefinder query,as this lens is part of the Zenith SLR range,but I'm pretty certain that this is the best place for responses😉

My first SLR was a Zenith EM with a Helios 44M,in fact that produced my Avatar.For a while I had a Jupiter 9,but I never tried the Mir 37mm wide angle,and I was wondering how it performs.
Not that I am an expert or looking for perfection,in fact I found the other two lenses mentioned, to be fine for my needs.🙂

I have one and a couple of Zenit Cs. The Mir is a very nice lens. The pre-set ring on mine is a tad sloppy but it's optically perfect. The lens won a design award in 1958 and many of them (maybe all) carry the "Grand Prix Bruxelles 1958" wording which people seem to interpret as some kind of limited edition, which it isn't.

Hi i once used a Mir on my Bessa R compensating the difference with a Close Up ring for my Zenit 3M. It actually worked very well. I could use the dsitnce markings for scale focussing but it was a bit cumbersome and looked like a heavy Zoom lens on my Bessa.

It may not be worth your while chasing it, but you can get M42 to L39 tubes of the correct length to. focus properly. I use one to put a Mir 20 and a 35mm on a FED.

I recently traded for a Zenith 3 which arrived with a Mir 37 but have been unable to test it due to a fault with the camera. It certainly looks like a nice piece of work.

Although this is in 39mmLTM, for your "modern" Zenith you would need a 39 to 42 adapter. If you'd like to try it, I would let you have it for shipping cost as I have no use for it. PM me if you're interested.

I have never seen it before! 🙂 № 007308! Mir-1 is copy of Carl Zeiss Flectogon, white Mir-1 is better than Flectogon. I have a black Mir-1V from Valday. Black Mir-1V is not so good as white.

In general Mir-1 is sharp and it's give you good picture. In front of sun you will need a hood.

Mine's the same as yours but with Latin "Mir", and a '64 serial number. Different maker too, mine has the eyeball-with-arrow (I can't recall, was that KOMZ or something?)

I have a silver one and a black one with the inscriptions Brussels 1958. I have used both and they seem to be equally sharp. I use them on my Zenit C and Zenit 3M. It's an excellent lens but should always be used with a lens hood.

Yes, mine looks exactly like the one in your picture. I got mine on ebay and its in perfect condition. I would check them out or try Fedka. He has ZM 39 lenses for sales. It's an excellent lens and well worth having if you are going to use some of the earlier Zenit cameras.

I've got a MIR-1B. I've not used it much but it seems quite sharp but with an "interesting" bokeh.
