I bought the 1.2 to shoot at just that. Left it wide open and shot some Reala and XP2 on my M6 TTL. They looked quite good, some even had that spirally Noctilux type look when your focus point was 6-7 feet away.
I've taken it off however for a couple of reasons. I primarilly shoot people photographs, my daughters and family, and I have missed quite a few shots due to the stiff (and long) focus of the 1.2. I don't remember missing stuff with my 35/2 summicron. Also, as said before, it is big and heavy and truly has turned out to be a specialty lens with limited use for me. I'll keep it in the bag for my nights at the pub, but in the end, the brightest lens in the world doesn't do me any good if I find it too obtrusive to use.
