anything in LA?

Hi folks,

I'll be in LA from Aug 22-27th and I was wondering if there's anything going on around that time-- photo exhibits / shows to catch, big events to shoot, places to see? Hope you guys can give me some tips 🙂

This is my first time back in LA in a long time (20 years?!).

Try to go to the Getty Museum if you can -- it is a fantastic museum, and as interesting for its architecture as for its collection of art. They have a massive photo collection and they always have something good on display. Currently, it is the photographs of Paul Strand. The museum gives you incredible views over LA (well, it's better in winter when there is less smog), and the museum's entry is free. What more can you ask for?

The minute you arrive, get a paper,( L.A.Times, Orange County Register), check out the "Scene" sections or the like, which tell all thats going on the area.
I'm partial to the beach areas, there are MILES and MILES of beaches, filled with interesting people to see. Piers, little downtown districts, like Santa Monica, Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Laguna, all these could fill your time here.
