BO-KE ..Long o, short e; a hard, even emphasis on both syllables. It's Japanese.

Beyond that, the sky is falling! Some idiot marketing weasel told a silly story and used a word inappropriately!

Even if they first got the pronunciation almost correct, eventually it will be modified to the "American" way .

Reminds me of the Subaru car commercials, when that car brand was first advertised on USA TV stations in the late 1960s.

The car brand name was first pronounced "Subaaaaru" which was closer to the Japanese pronunciation than it is now in the USA and most of Canada.
