New York April Meet-Up

Really going to try to make it this time

Really going to try to make it this time

I know I've said this before, but I'm really, really going to try to make it this time! Puck Fair isn't too far from me, so as long as I can get my wife to take our daughter for the afternoon, I'm good. Might be fun to put some fugly Ilford 3200 in the M6 and shoot with that at the meetup.

Also, I'd like to join the 4/23 outing if possible...details?

Thanks,
David

i think we're still figuring out the details for the 23rd...who wants to decide, or any other suggestions on where we wanna shoot?

We could meet-up at the Burger Garage, have lunch and then hike through the uninhabited part of LIC not far from my house. I figure a big mob of camera nerds won't be a big disturbance or bother anyone because basically ther are no people.

BTW this area is kinda vast and this area serves MF very well.

Other suggestions pleas include a place to meet-up, and a place to eat.

How do you like the Ikon? I looked at one (used) at B&H, but I wasn't to keen on the loud shutter noise..

It was my first M mount camera, so I'm partial to it. I've had mine for a while now. It's showing its age. And yes, the shutter does make a satisfying 'clap!'. Viewfinder is great. Every M camera VF since is a let down.

I'll bring it with the matching silver Zeiss 35/2,8 and you can check out my self-coding technique.

Hi guys,
I would really like to join the meeting, but I cant be sure yet... because of work.
If I have time to pass by, how would I know it's you, RFFers?

The pile of gear kinda stands out. Also we're usually the biggest group in the bar.

Also I kinda stand out. Just look for a tall skinny Asian with a ponytail with an arrogant chin beard.

Bob, yes, it is firm. Anyone can attend. I'm down for LIC as well.

Cool. I'll get more info on the Burger Garage. As you know it is good to have a full belly before a ong hike into no-mans land.

For interested parties: E train is only one stop from Madhattan, 7 train stop is Court Square, Queens Plaza and Queensboro PLaza is a short walk away.

The Burger Garage is right across from the CitiGroup skyscrapper on Jackson Avenue.

I'm in.... For the 1st of May

From Morgan... The Moroccan Red will take abit longer
So 'The Naked Girls' will remain Naked...;)

I guess we need to firm up the "April Shoot-Out." On Saturday April 23rd we'll meet-up at the "Burger Garage" in LIC at high noon to have lunch befor going into the uninhabited part of LIC.

The Burger Garage is 25-36 Jackson Ave at 44th Drive and is a block away from the 23rd and Ely stop on the E train iff you get off the front of the train from Madhattan. Also convenient to the N,R,Q and 7 trains. Just walk towards the Citigroup skyscrapper and Jackson Ave.

The burgers are custom made to order, are really great, and are made from USDA Certified 100% Angus Beef that is ground daily. Portobello Burgers are available for vegetarians. Pricing is rather modest/low.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Be prepare to hike, and be aware where we are going there are no buses or subways, and in fact on a subway map its a rather large vacant area that is mostly a run down/abandoned industrial area that extends to Maspeth. You won't see any tourists, and the shooting will be really urban landscape.

Hey guys,

I am down for the May 1 meet up but not the LIC this weekend. I've just come back from a 3 week Asia trip. Unfortunately, I skipped Tokyo where I had my group exhibition. For May I will try to make some prints from the darkroom this time. Have fun this Sat!

John

Hey John, if you don't mind...can you bring your M9 to the May 1 meet-up? I'm seriously considering upgrading soon and would like to see it in person again (without a sales person breathing down my neck).

I'll be off-line enjoying a spring break. If anyone is interested in the April shoot-out in LIC, please keep either Andre or John informed. We meet and eat at the Burger Garage at 12:pM this SAturday and then will go on a long march through Hunters Point, Blissville and then Maspeth.

It might be helpful to bring some bottled water, as John will tell you there really is not any logistic support once we enter this vast no-man's-land.
