I will have to develop some film that I recently shot with my Mamiya Press. Maybe that's a good project for this next week. Perhaps a good project would be to shoot a 3 camera comparison. Mamiya Press, Mamiya 220, and Koni-Omega -- Same film, developer, scanner, I have normal lenses for all three. You guys got me thinking.

Yes, a little bit...but now that I'm here and all of my stuff is here safely, I'm doing ok. Fun to photograph here, but I'll have to be even less into gear because 1) it's expensive here and 2) I don't see a lot of high end equipment stores here and 3) I'll make a lot less money here.

The update here in New York is that the Linhof Disease has progressed, and now I own three.

The most recent camera is a 2x3 Technika IV that I bought for $700.00. Basically I bought the camera for the lens (Zeiss 100mm F2.8 Planar), but the body is a shelf queen and it came with hood, filter holder, cable release, black grip, German instruction manual, and half a dozen Linhof dual sheet holders.

One reason the kit sold cheap is that the otherwise clean lens has rear element separation. I figure even If I have to pay for a decement/recement at Focal Point that this kit was a great deal because in the end I will have a fresh lens that is clean.

So this Tech IV is a true "Monster" with the bed dropped with the 100 Planar and gigantic hood. The camera is mucho heavy, but the balance and ergonomics just feel right.

The game changer now is that the 2x3 Technika V prototype with no movements looks to become the dedicated Linhof Polaroid camera. This Linhof is kinda small, compact and not heavy, especially with the Polaroid back.

I happen to like the VR'er on the Technika IV because it is like shooting a M-body, and the RF'er is both bright and contrasty. The Technika IV on the other hand in more like shooting a LTM.

Missing you already. I know you would have lots to say about the Linhof Disease.

Maggie alert: It seems that Maggie is "billboarded" on Broadway in a storefront window in SoHo. Part of the Mango campaign.

I'll be bringing two of my three Linhof's to present the two works in progress.

It seems the Technika IV dates back to 1958 by serial number, so this old camera is as old as me. The condition is rather remarkable, especially for only $700.00 considering, and doubly especially because of all the bonus extras.

The Tech V prototype seems ideal as a Polaroid camera with the 100 Planar, but to mount the lens this heavy chromed piece of steel that is the lens board needs to be modified. As a folder this Linhof is both compact and not too heavy.

It seems that the Tech V is well suited for using the 53 Biogon. I discovered today that the "Zebra" VF'er is period correct. Also my worries of needing the bed to drop to avoid taking a shot of the camera at infinity focus are over. Focusing on the ground glass is mighty cool.

Linhof disease continues. These projects will take a while, but it it obvious to see all the potential. The Tech IV has the normal VF'er and not the "B" version made especially for the ultrawide 53 Biogon, so the top mounted VF'er with higher magnification is best optimized for using the 100mm is not the best for accurate framing with the 53 Biogon.

I'm thinking of getting a second hood because of the Biogon. I need the larger 70mm adapter ring, but with the hood the Linhof becomes a true "Monster." LOL. The cameras due to their smaller size are cute and resemble bulldogs.

Glad to hear you're fine John. Am on a pre-move related trip and even if it is much simpler, I can only imagine a permanent journey being much more draining.

This morning I was flying out of Barcelona for just a day of 32h to northern Europe
I was as nervous as heck back then, just because of the trains, buses, changes, airport security, etc. For a 3h flight I must have spent the same going to the airport (20mi from home). And I just carried a backpack! Whew. Shouldn't have turned mom's offer to drive.

Now, I saw Maggie on the Airport advert. This makes it all tangible in a way. (Photo should be here)

John, although it probably has not yet reached the press down in Chile, by Executive Decree, Fifth Avenue has just been renamed "Trump Avenue".
Cars on Trump Avenue may only travel in the right direction, no left turns permitted.
