ywenz said:why not just check out www.fredmiranda.com or some of the other more established dslr sites... Is there a need for that many dslr sites?
bmattock said:As one wag put it - "Maybe DSLR users don't need a forum - they already know everything."
Best Regards,
Bill Mattocks, DSLR user. hehehehe.

I was all set to make plans to buy a Maxxum 5D and then the sky fell. Could I be
satisfied with the same thing under the Sony name? Not if it uses Memory Sticks.
So far nobody makes one I even like, so any purchase in the short term would entail
making lots of compromises.
In the meantime, I have my Panasonic FZ-15, and I have never been disappointed with its performance except for pokey AF--just the nature of the beast.

yossarian said:Perfect, Bill, just perfect. Pentax recently cut the price on one of their DSLRs--have you been fairly pleased with yours?

bmattock said:Thrilled, just ecstatic. The only complaint - I used a coworker's D200 and it is much better. But then again, three times the price. I bought my *ist DS body-only from Cameta Camera in Amityville, NY - great folks, done business with them online and in person. I believe the body was $600 something. I have since matched it up with a Sigma AF 28-105 f2.8 lens, it's ok but not great. I know it's not great because I also have a P/K mount 50mm SMC Pentax-A f1.7 that *is* great, and a M42 Pentax SMC 50mm f1.4 that is beyond insanely great. It is just the coolest camera ever - except for my Bessa R and my Bessaflex.

I still like Minolta's anti-shake, though...

Pentax is the only DSLR that can use lenses clear back from the beginning of their SLR line, not to mention it has the best viewfinder of any consumer/prosummer/whatever DSLR out there.
bmattock said:Well, it is not better than the afore-mentioned D200. Again, big difference in price. But even though I have the *ist DS and love it, I can't say that it has the 'best' DSLR viewfinder anymore. Still excellent, though.
