Arista Premium/Tri-X in Diafine test results

A decidedly unscientific test (who can waste a roll on charts?).
This is the new Arista Premium 400, which, it is being said, is Tri-X 400.

These frames were made with the following process:
-Set ISO on Bessa
-Meter as close to the center dot as possible
-Compose (trying to keep it the same)
-Developed in Diafine (Yellow, Blue, and yucky)
-Scanned at 1200DPI on my Canoscan 8600F flatbed
-Crop only in photoshop

My first impression with this film (developed with T-max Dev) is that it's fine... or to me looks finer than Tri-X. I'm glad you were able to push without any problems.

I have some of the Arista premium 400 coming and am interested in developers that people like with this film.

I would like some times, is everyone using Tri-x times to begin with?

I use T-max developer some, what times are suggested?

Tried Arista Premium 400 (@400), developed in HC-110, Dil B, 68 deg F, with 10-12 inversions every minute for 6.5 minutes. Also developed a roll of Tri-X @400 in the same tank. Results here:

Interesting. These are my observations/thoughts-

I like the shadow detail in the 400 ISO sample, but the highlights are a little too bright, and do not improve at higher ISO. BUT, are these differences due to any contrast adjustments ?

After seeing KXL's link, (even though they are smaller) I prefer the tonal scale achieved with the HC110. Interestingly, they could all be from the same film - they look so similar. That itself makes the Arista Premiium 400 well worth it.
My guess ? #s 4, 5, 6, and 7 are from Tri-X.

I'd be more interested to see a photo of your negative to see the density of each frame from the Diafine experiment.

1250iso is what I shot TX at when using Diafine.

My 100' roll of Arista Premium 400 will be here the 24th and I'll be able to form an opinion then ;-)

I used Diafine for the first time with some Tri-X@800 (I know that it really should've been shot at 1000/1200, but that was before I decided to try Diafine). Standard processing time (3mins + 3mins).

Here are the hi-res scans from a Mamiya 7:

Scanned at 2400 DPI with an Epson V700 and then down-scaled to ~5MP image for uploading to the web.

Am planning to shoot a lot of this at the local fair, and then dev it over the weekend... will post results when I do.
