Part of it might be the 50/1.2, but there's a 3D quality to this that I love. This is as close to film as I've ever seen from any digital camera. I wont be selling my MP or M2 any time soon, but now at least I know I can pick up a digital camera when it's called for, without sacrificing too much in terms of the subjective IQ that I prefer.

I really like the M9, Have never shot with an M-E but would probably like it even better because of it's more stripped down operation.

Nope, it might be just self illusion. Fuji seems to be more close, IMO.
I saw it on Flickr today and it made me wonder right away, how come this DIY C-41 guy shots digital now.

But nice to know you made it! I use digital for family pictures a lot.
 
No that's a great shot, and don't feel bad about using digital. There are those
special moment that do come out great (Like the shot above) that digital is
perfect for and with that right lens it all comes together.

Note the pronoun in my original post.

I shot the X-Pro1 for ~3 years. This is MUCH closer to what I want from a digital file. Not objectively better or worse; just subjectively better, to me.

Edge if I still had a darkroom i would still be shooting film in some capacity but a kinda forced downsizing and clients have pushed me to digital. No regrets and i don't want my digital files to look like film. If I wanted a film look I would shoot film. My MM files look like med format files only I have more control than I ever had with film and I'm an old zone system guy. The M-E is a wonderful camera. I am probably going to switch to all Leica M in the next few years and I might pick up an M-E for backup.

Charming photo! And it sounds like you're happy with the M-E's imaging qualities.
That's great, and it's all that matters. Congrats on the M-E, use it well and enjoy it. :)

Great shot, nice light. Congrats on the camera, and glad you find the imaging to your liking. As I understand it, the CFA for the M9's sensor was engineered to emulate kodachrome, so yeah it's meant to render in a filmic way. Fwiw, I find the same is true of files from my fuji xt1 - different film type of course - but same response to my eyes.
 
Nice. I love my M9. Interesting comment about Fuji. The first images I saw from the X100 looked very film like to me, and I've often found it so in use, especially the X100 jpegs where it is quite difficult to blow the highlights, just like C-41 film.
 
Very nice. The M-E / M9 produces files with a fantastic look, and very difficult to replicate or even approximate with another camera. The closest I've found are the Ricoh GXR-M, and weirdly, the Sigma DP1 and DP2, despite their quirky colour palettes.
