New York August NYC Meet-Up

I have been planning to join this Sunday, but just realized that it's my wedding anniversary. Will have to see you guys in Sept's.

Cal,

As long as I get an early train I will meet at the ICP at 11.
Haven't been to their new location yet so it will be nice to go there first.

John,

What you need is a permanent "Get Out Of Jail Card."

I manned up and bought "Maggie" a huge diamond ring, even though we are not married, and we live in sin.

We do not celebrate Valentines Day, Birthdays, anniversities... LOL. I always get confused how long we have been together, perhaps 18 years, but I'm not sure. LOL.

Call me a cheap *******, but I spoil my gal in the moment, I surprise her in real time, and not some ritual. I don't have to feel burdened, I don't have to do any forced move (life is not a championship game of Chess), and finding nice gifts at my convenience is just so easy.

I made a mortitorium long ago on commercialized holidays. I might buy a Christmas present for her in the summer, or she might buy me a birthday present at almost anytime.

Cal the lazy slacker.

Cal - Maggie and you are at a different level and I envy you ... I, however, need to behave so my wife would put up with me when GAS attack hits me.

John - Have a drink for me this time. Later in the month for the September's as Cal suggested would be good for me.

Helen,

"Go big or don't go," Mark Cuban said. LOL.

Anyways it is a huge emerald cut surrounded by 22 saphires in a platinum setting. Really fancy engraving by a boutique designer.

The ring definately has "you suck" factor when people see it. LOL.

Best money I ever spent. Definitely a get out of jail free card that never-ever expires. I used profits from day trading oil stocks from when I killed the market. Found it in the Philly Diamond District, it was a piece from an estate sale, and it ended up being a great investment. Worth about triple what I paid for just the diamond alone.

Another thing is if you have a very small living space then the things one owns tend to be quality rather than quantity.

Klaus,

I was at the Leica Store in Soho Saturday checking out the SL. I brought my 50 Lux ASPH, the extra heavy chrome version, to see how it would balance on the SL. I also brought my 50 Lux-R "E60."

Well Jeff was correct: the focus indicator on the SL is accurate and mucho fast. Who needs autofocus? Really it is almost that good. The "E60" was the best for ergonomics and balance. Pretty much, who needs a DSLR anymore.

Anyways I am a bit forlorned because I have no money for the "Q" or SL. On top of that I basically have to give some down time to my printing because I kinda abused my printer making mucho large prints to load that "shipping container" to smuggle them into my public storage for a "Storage Visit" from a associate curator last week.

It seems the 41-45 minutes of exposed unused nozzles is conducive to small clogs that are now messing me up. All of this was compounded because of the large batches and alternation between laying down 7 shades of black for one printing session, and then the following day printing the Gloss Overcoat that had an accumulative effect of 3x41 or even 6x45 minutes to allow ink to dry and become a problem. Time to flush with Piezoflush again because repeated power cleanings are not working. I will likely leave the printer in storage mode with the Piezoflush safely loaded.

I'm kinda gearing up for a film binge because I'll be sending in my Monochrom in about 3 months when my number gets called on the waiting list. I need a Nikon F5 for the 1/8000 shutter speed to exploit my Tri-X with Diafine to go with my R8 that also has 1/8000 shutter speed. At 800 ISO it is all I need for night shooting. I now have a Nikon LS 8000 scanner, so I now have something new to obsess about. For me the F5 with a 28/1.4 AF-d Nikkor is my substitute for the Leica "Q" I can't afford.

Cal

Oh yes............ The SL has some slick focus..............

oh.. I'm chucking my 18 month old Epson P600................ 2 nozzle heads clogged........ Stay with Canon.. Honestly...

Jeff I'm still using my old i9900 canon printer, no clogging on this one.
