try entering one and being greeted by a toothless redneck with a thick southern drawl. doesn't give you much hope for delicious asian cuisine.it does seem strange to enter a Chnese restaurant and be greeted by a black guy with a Kreyole accent.
Agreed.
I am a visible minority ...

how many "persons of color"posting here? anyone up to walk the talk?
i am in no way supportive of racism or discrimination of any kind, but having to hire someone because you don't have enough of a certain race/creed/color is also pretty ludicrous. do you think it's fair that employers have to pass up applicants that are far more qualified for a position just because they're legally required to hire someone based on their color?the whole concept of having to be a certain race/creed/colour etc. to work in "such and such" is ludicrous

With all due respect, you misunderstand my job and my purpose in being here almost entirely. While I do seek to help customers with problems find resolution, I also bring 20+ years of full-time pro shooting experience here. That coupled with the access to equipment and manufacturers my employment affords allows me to function as quite a bit more than a spin-meister.
please don't hesitate to point out the post in which I did state that you stated such a thing. 😉I never said that one SHOULD hire based on race/creed/colour/religion etc.

Thank you,

You're Irish? I've always suspected the hat in your avatar photo was covering a shock of red hair!😉
There's a nearby Chinese resaurant that I frequent. In the last year or so it was purchased by a black Haitian gentleman. He kept all of the employees, kept the same name and menu, but it does seem strange to enter a Chnese restaurant and be greeted by a black guy with a Kreyole accent.

it's called a counter-point, not a quote. you're an awfully defensive guy, eh? what i was speaking about was EOE and the laws that say one SHOULD hire based on race/creed/color/religion etc in certain situations.
wow. wish I'd known. I would have shopped elsewhere. I think I'll start paying more attention to Adorama.

i am not seeing discrimination when BH wants to employ friends/ relatives/ people they know from the local synagogue... but some people want to paint it as discrimination and racism: "i don't see people of color working there.." so what? it's witch hunt, liberal lynching, PC hypocrisy; idiocy bred out of resentment.Your highness, the King of Bokeh.
The OP mentions that it was Latino employees filing suit. Aren't they probably "people of colour"?
Who is posting here is not really relevant (my opinion that you can either agree or disagree with). But to answer your question, I have a color, and a religion, and a race, and a creed, and a national origin. Count me as the second in in the audit of persons of color. 🙂
I'm not seing the resentment you are seeing, against orthodox jews or anyone else. In past discussions I have seen people comment on how "inconvenient" it is to not be able to buy stuff from orthodox-jewish shops on the sabbath/holiday since they are closed... but that has always seemed to be resentment that the complainer failed to plan ahead rather than resentment of orthodox beliefs. maybe I'm wrong, though... I strive to be open-minded and accepting of any correction of my misbeliefs.
it's called affirmative action, it's a big thing in the states

I am a person of color.
Also please note that I was reporting an objective observation that over the past five years there has been a significant and notable change that I saw from over a decade ago. When I said zero-nada-nadia I was reporting what I saw on the floor.
What do you mean walk the walk?
Have you ever been to NYC and been in the store?
Have you been a customer there for over a decade.
Let's walk the walk.

you can't really offer a counterpoint without an original point to counter... yes?I don't feel I am a "defensive guy" but when one posts a statement that is a "counter point" (as you say) and also selectively pulls a portion of a post to quote it does look "suspicious" - remember, online you cannot hear the person speaking so I will take it as I can/will interpret it
