Hello,

Rangefinder Rangers, I need your help.

The latch on the back plate of my Fed 2 came loose and fell apart. I've collected all the pieces, but when I put it all back together, I can't seem to get it tight enough. Does anyone have any advice to offer?

It broke this afternoon, when I was shooting a demonstration outside the Venezuelan embassy. I have to shoot a concert in an hour (Folkwit artistes at The Spitz, near Liverpool St. Station), and I have to resort to using my SLR. I don't know how I'm going to focus that thing in darkness. I'd use my Zorki, but I've misplaced the takeup spool!

Today has been a bad day for FSU rangefinders.

I don't own a fed 2 so i can't suggest anything, however I would suggest the stop-gap measure of gaffa tape.

Afterall FED 2 is the camera equvalent of the venerable AK-47.

Thanks for the advice, but I was a bit reluctant to get my Fed all sticky.

So I brought my Mamiya DSX1000 SLR and sat in front of the stage with a monopod.I hope the shots were in focus, and did not suffer from too much camera shake.

I think I'll poke the Fed again. It would be nice if anyone could give me some help.

Hello Kim!

Wow, thanks! I think I should be able to fix it, though I don't know how. I certainly didn't break anything, nor did I lose any parts.

I'd be glad to purchase a spare back and spool from you, though.
