Ended up not shooting at all this weekend, had other stuff to deal with, but I processed a couple more from last weekend's walk with the Balda:

Thanks for looking! Comments always appreciated.

Thank you both!

Yes, indeed I do. Getting sucked back into 6x6 has been a thrill, it's always been one of my favorite formats. And these classic folders are just so characterful and fun to shoot with .. :)

Onwards!

I love both. That dad looks like Anwar Sadat's body double! Always wonderful when you can get a kid's curiosity pulled out from an otherwise oblivious family.

And the flare coming through the upper branches--that's magical. especially the tiny starburst at the top. This one says something to me about the presence of the divine in the daily--how most people work on, oblivious to the burning bush in their midst.

In fact, that's what I like most about both shots--the way you juxtapose human absorption/obliviousness/preoccupation with something more magical. Great compositional and conceptual lesson here, Godfrey. Please keep posting these until you are sick of 6x6 folderol.

This is a really timely thread - my new baby is a Balda Baldax (as opposed to the Baldix) with a 2.9 trioplan lens, purchased from a flea market yesterday. Still trying to figure out which of the two red windows I should align my frame numbers with, but apart from that enjoying it and some of my friends who have been known to rib me when I appear with old cameras actually expressed their approval at this cool little thing. I'm sure the lens is quite different and not as sharp as the one on your newer(?) camera, but still, even though mine is a lot more basic, your images are encouraging me!
