Hi,
I convinced a friend in Basel that she needs a Leica, and so she decided to buy and subsequently asked me to pick a camera body + lens for her.
I know her requirements for equipment, but I am not familiar with the shops around Europe, or the tax/duties/tariffs/customs of buying from Basel, Switzerland.
Q: Which shops would you recommend, and what kind of additional expenses (tax, etc) to expect?
Thanks in advance.

I'm currently in Sicily, so can't help. Having said that, it's rare to find bargains in Switzerland. It would be best if she could find someone to help her. There are a couple of RFF members in the Basel area but I haven't seen them online for some time.

Hi JL
Swiss VAT: Add 7.6% to the total price of items+shipment, plus a varying amount for taxes and fees (dont know percentage, I believe it's by weight, total is usually quite lower than VAT).
Something different: I live in Zurich and could consider selling my M6 and some other M/LTM gear. Old M6 version with 2 digits in the finder, black chrome, Wetzlar made (1986), new shutter 2003, CLA and MP finder upgrade 2005. Several extras like black Leica dot, Leicagoodies SLIDE, Tom Abrahamsson soft release and Rapidgrip. A real user M6, slightly worn and brassed, but perfect in working. It was used a lot and this is something this camera likes. Contact me by private message if interested.
Foto Pro Ganz at Rennweg Zurich has lots of used Leica stuff - the prices are higher than at ebay but everything is tested and there's akind of return if not satisfied option I believe.
