California (Bay Area, Northern) Beer and Gear.

Dang dang dang. I had a rough day yesterday at the 9-5 and just couldn't do it. Mike thanks for the offer for the ride..I should have just bit the bullet and went as it seems ya'll had a great time. Can we do this again soon...even if it's not in the City I'll go...yeah I'm talking to you Ray :) Hahah.

That was fun (as usual)! RFF meets are always the best. I think the number of new(er) b&g attendees equalled the number of older attendees. That's a good sign. HIghlight of the night (other than the duet with Robert, and yes, we took it too far (Robert wanted to spend the night!) :) ) was watching Jamie convincing himself that the G1 was going to be his next camera purchase. Of course, the three different adapters that were floating around made a strong case.

Kent, when you get that Aprilia, you, Roland, Carl, and I must ride together.

:)John:)

Can I join the ride and shoot too?? (Randy told me you guys done this)

I ride a Triumph Bonneville.

Hey, I've got one of those too (up for sale, btw (John??))! They're a blast, but a big German lady with a nice horizontally opposed pair has stolen my heart.

YES! What a motley biker gang we'll make, 2 beemers, a Harley, an Aprilia, a 'bonnie, and a Vespa. Toss in some Leicas and it's pure intimidation.

Well, I was on my way. Decided to take a drive. Shoulda taken BART. Unfortunately the bridge started falling down before I could cross it. Maybe fortunately before I was on it. Sat for hours before they started turning traffic around. What a bummer. Next time: Sacramento! By train!!!
Glad someone had a good time though.

It was great to see some new faces as well as the old disheveled regulars :D. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the performance that Ray and I put on. I particularly appreciate Mike stuffing all those 20's down my pants after the finale.

It looks like I'm not going to be able to resist picking up a Lumix GF1. Hanging a Noctilux on it and shooting equiv. 100mm f1.0 @ 3200 iso was pretty cool. Kind of like stuffing the engine from Sug's Triumph into John's Vespa.

I'll bring the Leicas: I want to photograph the Bonneville and the Vespa and any big German twins (better living via horizontal opposed heads).

Glad to hear it was a fine night. Bingley and I will try to make the next one out your way.

I have a couple Aprilia Scooters already that can give your Vespa a little go. My new-to-me Mojito Custom 150 is a fun little cruiser, just took it to Sausolito last weekend.

I had no idea that there were so many 2 wheeler fans on the forum. Great minds think alike :)

Ray- When the Dorsoduro makes it's appearance we'll definitely go for a spin. Kudos on the Celine performance BTW...standing on the chair with your arms out as though on the bow of the Titanic brought a tear to my eye. Mike playing the background music on a Piccolo was also mesmerizing.

Kent

I bet I can beat you all with my Vespa :).

Thanks guys. Yeah I'm so looking forward to the next shoot and ride. :D

And oh that GF-1 was sweet. Bonnie's 900cc engine in Vespa indeed. I'll hold my gas till 10/31 and see what Oly's got, then I might fall... Well, I just a got CV 28/3.5 from Paul (NJ) so must behave for a while...

Hey all,
I posted a few photos at the S.F. RFF group on flickr. (http://www.flickr.com/groups/1075711@N21/)
If you are not in the group, contact one of us who is, and we'll get you in. For a certain fee. It's a good place for coordinating future meets and developing the secret handshake and motto. Swap some prints at the next meet?

We'll have to move it around, change our pattern, due to possibility of 40 thousand in cameras on the table again.

Jamie- I too was amazed how decent the camera drew at 3200, pretty amazing. It definitely is a neat little camera.

The G1 should do just as well in low light. If anything it is a bit more feature rich (less video) than the GF1.

It's fun to have choices :)
