Thanks and sorry Martin. I am not very experienced with flash photography, but I guess I have found a way to make the experience a bit more comfortable for the subject.

@Chris: Nothing special, just a 5 Euro flash from the flea market.

Don't worry, flash is supposed to be bright ;)

I have never been to Berlin, but an old friend from college has lived there for a long time, and I would like to visit there.

You should come up and join the gang. I had a blast and I'm trying to get back there again. A very beautiful city with lots of good people!

I'm thinking of going to Berlin in mid November for a couple of days. I intended to meet up with some friends over there but it looks like nobody will be around...So I'm not sure. I do need to exit Turkey though, for visa reasons...

Maybe I should just hop on a bus and go to Greece or Bulgaria for my çikiş-giriş...

Any compelling reasons to go to Berlin in November?

I'm making a trip to Berlin (Germany), arriving 3 December, 2010 and leaving 9 Dec. It would be fun to meet any RFF members during my stay.

My colleagues think I'm crazy making a trip to Berlin from sunny Miami, Florida, but I found a cheap ticket and winter weather could make for some cool (literally) shots in Berlin.

I was actually there yesterday, but just passing through. Still too much to do here at home to stay. Another week or so and I should be able to visit for a few days again.

Yesterday I delivered a guitar amp to a friend. He lives in Warsaw, so we met in the middle at Frankfurt (Oder), on the Poland/Germany border. My last connection was in Berlin. It was such a nice feeling as I trained through the city, looking at all the places the gang had taken me. It's neat to just pass through a place and see a spot off in the distance and say "I've been there!!".

You guys make me want to spend a weekend in Berlin burning film. Flights are cheapish this time of year and I have a friend located there who might be persuaded to arrange a couch for me to sleep.

Hey Georg, that picture with me in front of the wall - was that the Sinar with the reduction back? Doesn't look bad.

Yes, indeed, it is the Sinar with the reduction back. Looks quite good to my eyes. The scan has actually more detail and sharpness than the rendition here at RFF.

Ookay, I am moving to Berlin on Saturday of this week - to Andreasstrasse in Friedrichschain. To get me started quickly, please tell me where to have my C-41 and E-6 135 and 120/220 films developed. For buying photo supplies I am already aware of at least Fotoimpex and Monochrom so I should be fine on that regard.

Jet Photo at Alexanderplatz is where I have my film processed, it's roughly 3 Euros a roll. If you're willing to pay for it, PixelGrain (also Alexanderplatz) is a pro-lab, they do an amazing job. They also process large format.

Foto Impex and Monochrome are good places to buy film at, I usually order at Maco or Nordfoto though, they have most films in stock.

Georg, I'll give the 6x9-back a try one of those days, I'm interested in how it compares to the Mamiya.

//EDIT: But, Lisa just brought plenty of 4x5 film from Berlin, we're going to use that first. I'll come to Berlin this weekend, by the way, I think. How about meeting up Friday or Saturday night? Is Simon in the country?

For me, having fotoimpex and monochrom within walking distance is like being a kid at a candy store which is owned by dad; I've been mail ordering stuff from those shops for years already and now I can just walk in :)

I'm still working on getting another job here in Germany. If I get this one I just applied for, I'll be up there a lot!

So you really liked that girl from the hostel, huh? ;) Will you be a civilian? Anyway, good choice, I'm looking forward to a bigger group.

Hmmm, I guess the mamiya has a big plus on the handling side, but the sinar has the movements. :)

Hope so! I am all in for Friday or Saturday night. A nice dive into the nightlife would be interesting.

I've been waiting for the cold for so long, finally it's fall.

Let's say Saturday, if possible, Friday might be a little tight.

Georg, I was thinking more in terms of IQ - I wouldn't want to replace the Mamiya with anything more cumbersome. Even though that Pentax 67 is more appealing every day.... close focusing limitations are killing me.

friday afternoon / night?. or does anyone prefer saturday?

first time in my institute today, first course on wednesday mornings: Pressefotografie! :D
who would've thought that.
