I really like the Bessa-L, but I hate the shutter lock. I keep forgetting about it and then wondering why it won't fire, and I sometimes miss the shot I want (no other camera I've ever used has had a lock like that). Today it was after rewinding and removing a film - the wind lever was stuck out the way it does when it gets to the end of the film, and after taking the film out and resetting the winder I once again thought the shutter had jammed.

Has anyone tried cutting off the little lug on the wind lever to disable the shutter lock? Any suggestions as to what I could use as a cutting tool?

Best,

Have you tried to disassemble the advance lever? It's possible that the locking lever is simply a shim or plate, stacked onto the post with the arm. If this is so, maybe you can remove it and cut the tab, or simply flip it over and re-assemble?

In any case, if you're serious about cutting it off, I would recommend removing it first, to avoid any unnecessary body damage.

It's actually a moulded part of the advance lever - it engages in a slot in the shutter release collar.

Yes, that makes sense, thanks.
