Best battery solution for GL anyone???

an hour ago i just got a nice GL as a gift from my girlfriend :)
and now i ran into a small problem. i found quite a few combition of batteries and just dont know which to use. what would work best?

how many volts does GL need? sorry i'm a newbie :p
 
would CR123A+SR44 work?


yes it will. you have to be careful the CR123A is set properly on the sping. The spring in the GL seems smaller and has less tension than in say a GT or GSN. Also, be sure the SR44 is centered under the battery cap otherwise the electrical charge will not reach the camera.

Yes, you will have to make an exposure correction on the IOS dial. You will have to check the exposure against a relaible meter in another camera everytime you use after not using it for a long time. The SR44's current drops quickly and will cause you to make bigger and bigger exposure adjustments ovettime.

SR or LR, that is, silver oxide or alkaline batteries are meant? I think SR44's keep pretty well, rather alkalines expose rapid current drop. I'm not electrician, though.
 
True the LR44 are alkaline and drop much faster than the SR44, but in my experience either drop quickly and need constant checking to insure proper exposure.

Some time I gave GSN away and after two rolls lithium PX28L battery were exhausted. I wonder if they kept shutter charged - probably meter is active under such conditions (don't truly believe, rather some malfunction).

For how many rolls your batteries are good?
 
I guess I am on my 15th roll using the CRA123 in various Electro models. I never really keep count. The CRA123 battery goes for ever, it is the LR44 that gives out quickly. I have replace the LR44 once, but I used in it in Olly OM2 and Nikon FE too. The SR44 are better preformers. I use them in my adapter for my Konica Auto S2 and Minolta Hi-matic 9.

I would say there is something wrong with you GSN. The battery is only engaged when you depressed the shutter release as far as I know. Maybe some else can shed some light on that for us. I always put the camera shutter lock on too. Maybe that shuts the meter off too.
 
Thanks. Release lock is mechanical, not related to electrical circuit. That GSN were little beat up, though took fine pictures. In same moment when I gave it away - showing how to focus - it started to drag focus ring - so I conclude it weren't happy to leave me. I count GSN's as not very reliable cameras.
 
one more question here, CR123A+SR44 to get 4.5 V or CR123A + SR44 x 2 to get 6 V?
i think GL needs 5.6 V, but which would work better 4.5 V or 6 V?
how do i adjust my camera + stops or - stops?
 
Guys more knowledgeable that me in electricity have suggested to go for 6V and not to adjust anything - Electro hasn't voltage regulator though tolerates well deviance from supposed 5.6V

6V is reasonable because then you have range to fall, instead of 4.5V where lower boundary of acceptable voltage is closer than starting with 6V.
