Best Drug Store C-41 processing

I had to give up on my local Walgreens. My prints would come back with part of the next frame in them or the one before. The guy told me that the person doing the prints didn't check his screen before running the prints. He would re-do them, but this same thing happened nearly every time I came in with some film. It costs a little more at the local camera store but the results are much better.

I get my C41 done at the local Target (Clifton, NJ) for $0.95 a roll, plus tax, develop only -- I cut & scan myself. The lady who runs the processing there remembers my name (even though I don't know hers -- I'm a bad person!), even if I'm away for a few months. I've been shooting B&W this year so far exclusively, so I haven't had a chance to stop in.

My local Target charges $0.95 as well, but they are unreliable for me. I have started going to my local Walgreens, and so far, they have done a commendable job. But if the images are really important to me, I'd send them to A&I in Hollywood or some other "pro" shop.

When I was living in Boston, there was a CVS directly across the street from my office. They had a Kodak certified 1-hour mini lab, and there was this extremely frazzled and haggard gent who was in charge. He really seemed like a cartoon character. Still, on the odd occasion that I shot some C-41, I started taking it to him instead of the expensive pro lab, which was a little further out of my way and took at least 24 hours. I would ask for no prints, no CD, and uncut negatives. It cost around $4, if I remember correctly, and I never once had a problem. I think he would get excited when I would come in, knowing I wanted to get some actual film developed, because he always seemed to be dealing with some headache of a customer who couldn't get the easy print machine to read their SD card or something. I wish I had easy access to something like that now, and I might shoot more color negative film.
