Hello,

Just after a bit of input. I'm after a flash for my Canon P and want something that is as small as possible - and that has a PC cord to connect to the camera.

Any suggestions?

Google showed me a lovely Sunpak RD2000 which looks fab, but won't work with the Canon as it doesn't have a cord socket.

Thanks,

Chops

I own a little widget that fits in the accessory shoe, plugs into the PC socket, and provides a standard hot shoe. I've had it for at least 25 years, so I don't know if they're easy to find now.

I am usually an available light shooter so I never bothered to use flash with my canon but after reading this post, I tried my good old Vivitar 283 with manual control module connected to Canon 7 and P with PC cord. Works wonderfully. It is not the smallest but a good size considering its power output and ability to tilt head.

Good luck on your search. I'm bookmarking this thread!

The Vivitar 283 is easily available, not expensive, and as powerful (100WS) without going to larger units with seperate battery packs.

It should work very well on the Canon P. I would not use a smaller flash, myself. Might as well use something with "some poke". The 283 has that.
