Will be traveling to the Uk with my xPro.I have decided to take only one lens, and that most likely will be the 35mm 1.4. Since I want to stick to a native lens, any thoughts on if you agree or disagree with my choice.
Thanks

My last one lens choice for the UK was a 35mm, but full frame. It's too bad there isn't a 24 or 25mm XF lens in the lineup. The 53mm equiv of the 35mm XF seems a bit too tele and the 27mm equiv on the 18mm a bit too wide... That said, I think I'd go with the 18mm, but that might not serve your shooting style or subject matter.

(1) Where do you live?

(2) What would you choose to use at home?

(3) What differences do you expect between where you live and the UK?

(4) For help in answering (3), consider that the UK has quite a lot of variety. Are you photographing Scottish highlands or mediaeval churches? Or Canary Wharf or London Underground?

Cheers,

R.

What difference does it make really if you go to Italy or Uk or anywhere else. Take your favourite lens / angle with you . If you shoot mostly landscapes and architecture 18 mm is your choice if street photo i would take 18mm someone else would prefer 35mm for that.

I'd take the 18. Its great at capturing the overall atmosphere of the streets, architecture, and landscape. BUT... if you're into taking portraits (street or personal), take the 35. I suggest you take both. Come on... they don't weigh anything! :)

Or... you can delay your trip until next year, at which time there will be a 24mm available. :p

Agree with Michiel, take your other lens(es), you can always leave them at the hotel if you find yourself not using them.
