I already have two M6s (and a M8) an dlove them but I am having a chance to obtain a M3 in exc condition. It is a year older than me and could be a great life time partner..;)

So, folks.... please educate me. Why are the M3s sooo special? I have been reading a lot about the M3s and am confused...:bang:

Many thanks in advance

mmk60, I just picked up an M3 and love it. Mostly, it's the beautiful uncluttered 0.91x magnification viewfinder, great for 50mm and above. With a 50mm mounted, there are no other brighlines. I have a 1946 50/2 coated Summitar on it. I sold my M6 TTL minutes before I picked up the M3, and still walked away with $1,000 in my pocket. I also have a 0.72x MP which I can use with my 35 cron.

So if you like to shoot 50mm

I voted M5, and since the M5 is Leica's best kept secret, I'm not gonna tell you why :cool:

No kidding, there's a number of threads here on the M5 and none of them are wrong about this camera. Either you love it, or you don't. I do!

The M2-R probably is the best of the lot. I wish I bought a few of them way back when. I just bought one. It's still in use!

Leica MP, Summicron 50mm f/2 collapsible, Tmax400, printed on Ilford MG IV.

Erik: Neat shot!!!!
I like how the tones of the foliage separates. Did you use a green filter by any chance?

fixbones: Thanks!

No, I never use any filter. I use Ilford Perceptol as developer. Tmax400 is just a great film that gives a wonderful tonality that you will not find on a digital camera.

Erik.

I have only had the M6 classic and about a month ago I bought the M8. My vote goes for the M6, no camera has ever felt so natural to me. I´m gonna get the M4 or MP sometime in the future just because I want one chrome to go with my black M6 :p

The MP is a good camera, but the covering should be changed and the framelines should be replaced by those one finds in the M2.

Erik.
