rendering wise in color C41 and BW film... I choose GR21 as my best pocket (now)

On the iPhone, you can use the +volume as a shutter release, it gives you a more conventional feel and allows for a two-handed grip. Plug in the earphones, and the + on the phones acts like a cable release.

Gotta say it... the iPhone 5 makes a stellar pocket camera. I'm always amazed at what it can do in the right lighting. Really good stuff.
The Olympus XA makes a good pocket camera as well, but I always preferred a pre-war Leica LTM body with a collapsible lens, or a Kodak Retina. I've always felt the Rollei 35 was a bit over-rated, and the XA is a bit limited (though the aperture priority AE is nice). An early LTM Leica with a 50mm f3.5 Elmar is a tiny, slim little package that is also incredibly durable. Very good pocket setup.

I vote for the Olympus mju II - picked up a new (old stock) one a few months ago and for a 'cheap' auto-everything P&S, the images that I'm getting out of it are very good.
Ricoh GR hands down.

Another enthusiastic vote for the Ricoh GR here.
My fantasy would be a GR with a 23mm (35 equiv) lens...f2.8 is ok for compactness.

Sony RX100. As a Barnack and Zorki 1 mossback, I was very impressed when I handled our daughter's RX100 and viewed the results from her recent trips abroad.
Otherwise, iPhone 5c, which is always there.

Ricoh GR always there. Also experimenting with Leica Null series and Pentax Q7/01 as 40/50mm view compliments.

how do you guys hold your iphones?
Two-handed, with the side buttons up: the "Vol +" button doubles as camera release [laughing hysterically as I type "camera"]

Ricoh GR, fits in shirt, jacket or pants pocket. For its extremely small size a fine shooter. If they ever make a 50mm I'm all over it...

The XA3 for film. mju2 Almost gets it but... I find the scale focus is easier to "shoot from the hip" than Autofocus.
Ricoh GR easily wins the digital pocket camera.

I would take a 50mm GR even if it was f4 max aperture
A real 50 though not a 50mm equivalent!

I had picked RX100 (esp the new III with the pop-up EVF) for digital and Ricoh (GR, but any really) as an honorable mention in a previous post.
I am curious: Several have mentioned a desire for a 35 or 50 GR. While not the same, do any of you use the inbuilt crop? I find it to be a function that I use a lot, in spite of thinking I would never use it all -before purchase!

For film, the Minox 35GT. I had the shutter fixed by DAG many years ago, and it's been flawless ever since. In fact, that's the one camera I'll probably never sell. For digital, the Ricoh GRD IV. I love that thing, both results- and handling-wise. I was initially skeptical about the "limited" 28mm equivalent, but it has proven to be incredibly versatile and fun.
