i´ve had many pocket film cameras, the best i´d say are the contax t3 and TVS.....but
...recently i traded some lenses for a sony rx100 II...i must admit it really shines, i´ve had a really good time with it!

Once i simplified all variables in camera, then it was easy to use!

For me it would be the Ricoh GR if it had a 45-ish equiv lens but it doesn't so it's not.
I like 28 but not as an only.
So, it's still my LX3..
Keep the ISO low and 13x19 prints are reasonable, especially in B&W. The lens is fast and requires very little stopping down ---just one stop is fine---and thus helps with that.
Have fun with your new camera, Joe.

aye matey it arrived in the middle of a snowstorm, i had to drive 2 blocks to the postal station to pick it up...it looks new, has a nice heft to it...not as tiny as the canon 780 but then it affords a greater degree of control over it...i think carrying both might be a hoot, just plain fun to play with!!

So where's the 780 picture of it?
Or did it freeze on the way to the post office?

I recently got a Canon MC30. Like it a lot as a pocket camera. Small, sturdy, closes completely and easy to find batteries. It's full auto but for the use I don't care.
Don't use digital in that role.

Any Rollei 35 Tessar or Sonnar model - awesome images, pocketable, and fairly inexpensive (especially the Tessar's).balancing price and ability to produce excellent images...add pocketability to the mix...
something to carry 24/7...

Really loving the thread. Everybody's talking about cameras I wish I had.
For my walking-around, film is an Olympus 35RC; digital is a Canon G9. I know there's some quality issues with the G9, but I've always had good luck shooting raw at lower iso (400 at the top end; 800 in a very extreme situation, 1600 if I'm going for that sand-painting look
