I am in the market for a scanner. I would like to get one that does both photos and negatives. I would also rather not spend more then a few hundred. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I recently bought a Canon Canoscan 8400F that I'm happy with. It scans photos and film. With 35mm film, it holds 2 strips of 6 frames. With 120 film, it holds 3 6x6 frames at one time. $230Cdn

If you only scan 35mm, get a Nikon Coolscan V (over your budget but worth saving for a while). Couple that with a cheap flatbed for prints. Better yet, buy a flatbed first and then add a film scanner later if you feel you need one.

I also use a Canon Canonscan 8400F. Scans of prints and negatives (both color and B&W) are great. Just take the time to learn the advanced control screens.

Virtually all the Epson flatbeds are good for photos and film scanning. A Epson 2450 used is probably a steal right now. good luck
