Another Red-browed Finch Neochmia temporalis at Long Reef, Sydney, August 2025. #6164
This finch was close by the cafe where I’d stopped today for coffee with my wife and daughter - a pleasant sheltered spot behind the coastal dune. It’s a very small bird. It was eating those barbed seeds on the yellow flowered weed right in front of it.

brush (or bush) turkey, Long Reef, Sydney, August 2025. #4167
The turkey population has exploded in urban Sydney over the past decade. They’re everywhere in my local area, even in high density housing precincts. One has to be careful driving as they often cross busy roads. The tail feathers are arranged vertically, like a rudder.
