I think it's important we respect other's choices here without denigrating those who prefer to remain anonymous.
To add to my earlier comment, I just had to ring my bank to reset a password for internet transfer of funds. It took less than one minute, and the girl required only that I quote my full name, home address and mobile phone number of record. It's a little frightening sometimes how easy that would be for another person to do if they got hold of an old account statement giving the account number and even just my name. Yes, I'll stick to being just a little cautious thanks!
ChrisN: Sorry if I offended you. That was not my intent. I was just saying I personally assign more credibility to a poster with a real name. Others are free to make their own choices.
Banking security appears to be stronger here in the US. Still, I have not used an ATM for 20+ years. I only deal with live bank tellers, face to face. My bank checks only have my name, no other information but I almost never use them. I pay for just about everything with real cash money. I do pay my bills on line and only use my debit card on-line and then only with SSL connections. I use my credit card just often enough so they renew it.
So while I am very open with personal information, it would be very difficult to ever get to my financial information.
