There’s a black 35mm summilux with goggles in a local camera store and I was wondering if the goggles are removable? I looked at and didn’t see any screws so the goggles probably should be removed by cutting the metal holder or dissembling the whole lens? Does the focusing work without the goggles, that’s the biggest question I suppose? Price is 560€ by the way.

Hi,

This might be a very rare lens, I've never seen one. The price is also ridicoulus low, well depending on the condition off course.
If you remove the goggles the lens will NOT focus right anymore. You can however use the lens with gogles on any Leica M. It will pop up the 50 frame and the gogles will convert it to a 35mm view. But expect to have a much less bright overall vf.

I didn’t see anything wrong with it. Glass is clean and it looked perfect.

The problem is just that. I would use it with R-D1 and I suppose it wouldn’t work with that although the mount is the same.

Maybe I just have to save money for few years and get a proper summilux without goggles.

Or buy it and resell it on *bay to fund your proper 'lux...
Good idea but I doubt that there is any profit to be made. The local shop is a long time Leica dealer and expert in classic cameras and he probably knows what it is worth. He should anyway.

It is a great lens but the goggles are not removable and can't focus properly without it. That is a great price. If it has the black paint infinity lock then it is unvalued by about 1000.
