I read somewhere that silver lenses on black bodies is for slobs. Well, I love silver lenses on black bodies. In fact, as I write these lines I'm gazing lovingly at my newly acquired silver Elmar 50 f/2.8 (latest version) on my black M7. I've learnt to live with myself as a slob and am so much happier, so much more at peace.
PS: my vented screw-on metal hood is black. The whole package looks so cool.

I have a silver lens for my black body. I hate that look. Perhaps it's also because the lens looks so odd (CV15)

I heard that it reduces the duration of the common cold so eh...it balances out.

A silver lens on a black body is my least favourite combination, but I'm really not that bothered - I'm quite happy with my silver CV lenses on my black Bessa R4A

I think the term is more correctly Slobb (Silver Lens on Black Body)
I've actually been liking the look of the Leica Chrome myself lately...

What if I put a black lens on a chrome M2 covered in Japanesque Gold vinyl...?

Ah - hold it, guys...there are instances when a chrome lens could be too "loud" on a black body, like for instance my newly aquired Canon 85/2 Serenar. I am hesitant to pull out that shining beast of a lens in a crowd if I am in street mode....
Loud....but oh so nice

cmogi: sorry but that lens looks absurd on the leica.. So long you couldn't even frame to get the whole lens in the shot!

What are you talking about? It looks great! I'd love to see that lens on a black M5. Now that would be cool.

Let us just say, it's not my go to lens...
That being said, I do like it, generally not when I'm trying to look discreet.

I prefer silver these days because the extra weight (Leicas) adds to camera's stability.

I'm with you cmogi, that Canon looks great on your black M.
Here is a similar combo:
And that 135 is not big at all. Good lens, too.
Want a big lens, here is a big lens:
Got to have the Panda look !
Cheers,
Roland.

After my CV 35mm colour skopar (black) was stolen I bought a Canon 2.8 35mm from a member here, that now works in beautiful tandem with my Canon 1.8 50mm. Both are silver and share time on my black M6.
I couldn't care less whether it looks cool or not - I can't afford to have a choice as the black lenses tend to be newer and therefore more expensive. As such I'll stick to getting good glass that my pockets can stretch to regardless of how colourful it may be.
If anyone is offended by the fashion faux pas I make whenever I take to the streets please PM me and I'll supply you with an address for the nice black leica glass you'd like to send me - I'm not choosy!

I like the black and silver combo a lot, it helps that the combo was the only choice I had in Leica land for a while.

you know, the other day I was admiring the look of the hasselblad 503 black with the chrome trim thinking how much I love this old style sophisticated sexiness of the camera, to hell with what other people say, if you like it then there ya go:
