Definitely black for me for the first one. I'm buying two though and haven't yet decided whether to have two identical or one of each.

Photovillage retailing the M8 for $4795. What's Tony Rose's price?

I'll go for the chrome myself as the finish is more durable. Been seeing too many marks appear on my black M7 and M6.

My first post..........so this has to be good, well thought out, and worthy of this fine group.... BLACK it is !

I was going to go chrome because it wears better when you have a magnisium or aluminum body, i.e. no color contrast........ but now I find out that the M8 will have a solid milled brass bottom and top plate. The black chrome starts to look like a nice option since there is nothing quite as nice as a golden brass patina showing thru a black finish.

Also, I have grown fond of older chrome lenses on my black RD1.

Indeed!

are all new leica camera bodies available in both black and silver?

that would be, what, the 7, the 8 and the mp?

Yes. The MP's black is black paint , very elegant.

I am curious, how many M8 cameras can Leica sell in one year?

I'm sure Leica is equally curious :)

[Ok, not a stellar first post, but it leaves room for improvement]

Black for me, or chrome, doesn't matter.
