My canonets haven't been used much lately. One of them is the all black version in pretty good shape, only problem is a busted up shutter that won't change speeds at all. I've been on the fence about keeping it or selling, either way it won't do me any good sitting there broken.

I've tried fixing one up a chrome body myself with moderate success, I got the shutter and aperture blades to free up but only to have the film advance wind on without ever cocking the shutter two rolls later. Go figure.

The black versions seem to fetch a better price than the garden variety chrome ones. How viable is to to have it repaired then sold? Will it increase its value at all or is it better off just being sold as is?

I have a black one in good shape and I DO like the looks of it.

I've seen black ones go for around us$200 regularly with reports of much higher selling prices.

If I were used I would either fix it and use it or else sell it to someone who will. :)

I'd fix it and sell it. If you can find anyone to pay more than $200 for a point and shoot, you should take it. Especially before people find out that it's just a camera and the price goes down.
