Book to help identify Leica M lens

An oldie but a goodie is The Leica Book by Theo Kisselbach. It was also available in German as Das Leicabuch. It covers the LTM era like a blanket but the M period is too modern for its scope. Has excellent sections on basic technique many of us have forgotten (like why Rodinal produces such enhanced sharpness, for instance).

goggle" Lens Compendium" by Erwin Putts and get it for free. He offers it for free, why not take him at his offer? Best - Paul

I have the pdf version from his site but I want to add the book to my library.

I like Sartorius better... but there are some little discrepancies in it. Look for the Summilux 35/f1.4 pre-aspherical in the book and he tells you it takes one kind of lens hood. Look for it in the lens hood table in one of the appendix sections and he'll give you another answer.

However, it's a good reference source. The camera book is fun to read! 🙂
