Boredom = body without a lens

I just wish CameraQuest had a real shopping cart system, I'd buy more stuff there. Need a couple of ltm to M adapters now, but it's easier to buy them off eBay. $55 is a good price, too, for a quality adapter.

$55 for the adapter from the head bartender aint exactly bank breaking is it 😉

Hi,

As much as that for a 14097! In real money that's nearly £38... I think I paid a tenner for mine (delivered) and resented it as I though they cost about a fiver. Well, they were £3 - 16/- in the 60's (sighs).

That's the trouble with nostalgia, it's not what it used to be. And I can remember seeing and not buying a mint "hockey stick"Leica for £50 then because I thought it was over-priced.

OK. Rant over, I'll take a tablet and lie down for a bit ;-)

Regards, David

For adapters, I'd just do what I have done twice in the last year. Go to a decent shop with a secondhand section and ask for a used Leica adapter. No need to pay more than €30 and you can get a Leitz manufactured one for that. There are zillions of these things around.

If you need to get one posted to you then it is also cheap and, if you are miles from anywhere, you can probably order film at the same time so saving even more money on the postage.

Most people probably wouldn't notice the difference just by looking at the prints from a Jupiter-8.
Exactly. For those people you don't need a Summicron either.

Mind you, the adapter will cost a fortune as it will have to be a genuine one. You can waste a lot of money on the clones and get very annoyed about it.
I've got a couple of adapters for all focal lengths that I bought used. They're all Leica or Voigtländer brand, bought off eBay, all of them good. For a while I had an automated eBay search query that would send me an email whenever someone listed adapters in Europe for less than 20 EUR. I don't think I paid more than that for any of them.

Ah, my wayward youth when I should have been buying (investing in?) new Spiratone M adapters at five bucks apiece, 3/$10, or used Leitz adapters for one or two bucks at the neighborhood camera shops. Of all the non-Leitz adapters that I had over the years they all semed to be within specs for accurate focus.

Hi,

I wish I'd known about that then. Might have saved a bit of money. Thanks.
