As for Brookline:
At St. Mary's I know the Beacon St. Tavern. In Washington Square there's the Public House and American Craft. I don't know what's up in Coolidge Corner as well, but there will surely be parking there. Anyway, Sunday afternoon shouldn't be a worst-case for parking and seating.

Someone had suggested Shay's in Harvard Square a while back. Being on the other side of the river, Harvard Square seems a lot if we're just meeting up. So unless there are any objections, I say we stick with Brookline/Boston for now, and we could make a Harvard Square shooting expedition when the weather's better.

Agreeable to me. I'll have a look the three spots you've mentioned and report back.

I went out this afternoon and scouted locations for our first meet-up. Went to Washington Sq., Coolidge Corner and St. Mary St. area; passed on other suggested venues. Looked at: Wash.Sq. Tavern, O'Leary's, Beacon St. Tavern, Publick House and a few more. The two that stand out in terms of physical layout and informal atmosphere suitable for drinks and snacks (or lunch for those so inclined) are the Washington Sq. Tavern and The Beacon St. Tavern.

I'm going to recommend the Beacon St. Tavern, 1032 Beacon St. near St. Mary St., Brookline. They have a web site, www.beacon1032.com. While there I spoke with Hanna and told her what we were up to; she was friendly and receptive.

Timing: They take orders for appetizers, lunch, etc. until 2:30, after which they close the kitchen in preparation for the dinner crowd. But the bar will stay open until 5:00.

Hanna said she would arrange to have an appropriate table if I gave her sufficient advance notice.

So, here's my full recommendation. Meeting to be held at the Beacon St. Tavern, Sunday, 27 March at 2:00 pm. In the meantime I need to put together a relatively firm head count.

I'll make up an archival print from any chosen image on my pbase.com/hlockwood web site. It will be "carbon on cotton", that is, K7 Cone pure carbon inks (seven shades of gray) on cotton rag, e.g., Moab Entrada Natural Rag. Probably size to be ~10x15 to 12x18.

Depending on the currency, this print could be worth thousands. 😀

So, first order of business - let me know whether you'll be attending.

Time/place sounds perfect to me. I'll definitely bring some lenses along, including the 28 'cron 😉

Sounds like it will be a great time. The 27th will be a tough day for me, every other weekend works for me, the 27th is a bad one, but I will see what I can do.

Sounds awesome but I am traveling (Japan, China and Australia YAY I will of course take lots of photos) that week so wont be able to attend. However if this is a monthly thing I am definitely interested! I live in Brookline as well so that location works perfectly. Have fun!

it is only about a 90 minute drive though, straight shot up 84 and 90 then however long it will take to get from a parking place to the bar. I would love to do it. we shall see.

I found plenty of metered parking space, and it's free on Sunday. Your walk to the bar would probably take about 3 minutes. Hope you can make it.

I'll try to make it. The 27th is a bit iffy, but if I have time to get down that way (about an hour from here), I'll drop in. Thanks to Harry for organizing, scouting and publicizing this meet!

In New York we have had so many people at one meet-up that we couldn't determine a head count with all the comings and goings. At one Meet-Up we kinda kidnapped some guy that just happen to be walking by carrying a Leica. LOL

Now, for the rest of you slackers 😉 out there. I want to be sure we have an adequate size table for the meet-up, so I'll need you to advise on your intention. And thanks to those who can't make it but took the trouble to give notice.

We do have a quorum, but I think we can do better.
