Beautiful camera.
Makes me want to send my chrome L1 off to Kanto Camera and have them paint it black.

Nice both a box that says black, and a Peerless label that says black, the most confirmed black Canon I have ever seen!
Mackinaw, the repainted ones always look silly when you actually see an original like this beauty, painters just never get the gloss or thickness right.

Yeah, there’s something about factory black paint that just looks warm and rich, but Kanto does a pretty good job with their repaints. At least for the ones I’ve seen online.

Insufficient information
I have a beat-up chrome L-1 which I enjoyed shooting. And then the shutter failed. Actually the shutter pulls open when winding. The shutter timing seems OK. Haven't looked in to repairing it. In theory I could use it if I capped the lens before winding. But that seems just asking for the problem to get worse. Decent viewfinder for its time, but the selector wheel will scratch glasses if you use them.

I was so lucky and bought my black Canons when they were not really expensive. IMO, there is no more beautiful black rangefinder, and I have owned several. The paint is thin (high clarity), but hard, and has a subtle, but not overpowering gloss. The Nikon S2 is a close second, also a high clarity lacquer. The Contax I is also a black beauty.
Leica did a beautiful job on the M6 TTL Millenium, IMO.
