Brassing question...

When can one expect to start noticing brassing on their Black Leicas?

I bought a used M8.2 a little over a week ago (LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahem, excuse me, sorry about that 😱) and noticed no brassing. Today I see a very, very minute, small amount of brassing on the lower plate. Possibly, I didn't notice this originally. But it got me wondering.

If you use a neoprene case (Zing) and are using fairly often, when would you expect to start noticing that type of thing?

Did I mention that I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations for your M8.2!
My wife hates my M8 because she think the imagine I got from R-D1 is far better than M8. This may due to white balance issues. R-D1 did great job indoor.
Although it's cheaper than Epson (that's what I told her), the color is not comparable:bang:
Talking about the brassing, it can be quick if you used it a lot. My MP showed no brassing during the past 5 years. But I barely used it.

I saw an M8.2 that was used by a student for 4 weeks. He used it a lot every day and it had an incredible amount of brassing. It looked wonderful. It stood up to some heavy abuse and did not scratch or dint. So just keep the case off and wear it everywhere you go. I would imagine it would help to wear it under a coat so it has something to rub against.

With the case on, and the camera used carefully, brassing can take decades. With the case off (the only way I use my Leicas), a few weeks or at most months.

You know, I was wondering if anyone has explored the best technique for purposely brassing a camera. Something seems a tad disingenuous about that though. Also, that Citisnaps blog is good.

Juan Manuel Fangio on the back door of that M2 is a nice touch. I prefer to let nature and time do any brassing I'm going to get.
