Brooks Jensen Kokoro Project

I recently started following Brooks Jensen, editor of Camera Work & his Kokoro Project. Links below. Quite inspiring to see his photographs. He has a link that takes one to "Backstage Kokoro" where he gives exif data, camera & lens used. One can even click a link to the original photograph untouched.

I figured a photographer like Brooks Jensen would use the most expensive of full frame Nikons or Canons. Not so. Most all photos are taken with a Panasonic G6. Be nice to see some prints but I'm quite impressed with the micro 4/3rds camera. Just thought I'd share.

Impressive work. Micro 4/3 appears to fit his subject and working style just fine. Quite a size difference in format from his large format stuff. Many were taken with first and second generation M4/3 cameras. Really impressive.

The technique is good enough, strangely, even in B&W - maybe because there are few tonal extremes. He sort of has found a workaround for the weakest part of B&W digital. However, the worst part is the banality of the photos. He is a great promoter and critic of photography, but not a very successful photographer.

It is true. As the saying goes: another rock, another tree. That said, I liked some of his early work of shop tools. Banal, perhaps, but I'm interested in old tools.

I really liked the work with the old tools. If you take time to wander thru each pdf he shoots some interesting subjects.
